I have a chance to get the head from an 87 mustang 2.3 and I am wondering if it will fit my 2.0.
I know the bore is smaller on the 2.0 so I am concerned that the larger valves won't clear the bore. anyone have any knowledge of this?

The heads are no different, same size valves

the heads will physically bolt up. if it is an 8 plug head simply block off 4 of the holes with threaded plugs if your 2.0 has a distributor like im thinking it does.

All the books show that the 2.0 has smaller valves than the 2.3 that is why I am asking.
Everything I have read says the same thing. I am not saying the books are right but you would think that one of them would get it right.
and the head is a 4 plug head. I am just going to buy a rebuilt motor. and I found one but it is a 2.0 stock bore. I need a good cylinder headand the head I can get is for the 2.3

the intake pattern is different between the 4 and 8 plug heads...

If it's an 87 head, it should be 4 plug...

The intakes will not match the 2.0 exactly, but I did the same swap and it worked OK...but I also used a different intake from a 78 mustang that had the D ports...

I would suggest using the 2.3 head gasket because the 2.0 pistons are smaller and you don't want the gasket in the chamber area...it will eventually get fried and may end up jamming pieces in your valves...

Something useful and not related to boobies is a first for Mark_88 :icon_rofl:
