Will this crossmember work?

Well, the product description says it works with 83-97 Ranger. The years the FM146 was used fall within that range. I am going to take a WAG and say "yes".

I Know that the year range is correct. I'm just not sure if 2wd and 4wd have the same frame and trans mounts, as I see these crossmembers used mostly on lowered trucks.

Also, that "crossmember" looks like it's just a piece of flat steel. It looks very prone to cracking. I would just build one. I have less than $25.00 into mine and it's more or less bulletproof. (2x4 1/4" wall)

Yeah, I'd be tempted to get some 1/4" flat steel stock, and just bend it into shape.

The original crossmember mounts differently, and dips below the cat. Ford's was thin steel (guess 3/32") but had high ridges for strength. That new flat one is MUCH thicker, but it bolts to the underside of frame. Will that actually clear your cat?
