ok i broke the bellhousing on my 85 bronco II with the 2.8. it has the overdrive automatic trans in it. my question is will the bellhousing form the 99 explorer 4.0 work? they look the same but Just wondered.... thanks for all help in advance

Well It is a cologne motor just like the 4.0l but i'm would think that an adapter plate is needed. I would go with a 4.0 bellhousing from an older truck like a 91 or 92 because they are the same body style and closer in years..

Not a chance. Completely different.

Agreed. You have the A4LD trans, the 99 trans your speaking of is the 5R55E. From what I remember, the A4LD has a removable bellhousing, the 5R55E's bellhousing and main body are one case. While it will bolt up to the 2.8L, the 5R55E is a completely computer controlled trans...You need a trans from a 94 or older truck, which is when the A4LD's production ended
