Will not go into gear

So my truck is '01 3.0 manual. If I am not moving it's sometimes hard to get it into gear, but other times it's not to bad. But if the truck is moving a little I can get it into gear, sometimes it takes a little jamming. But other times it works just fine. Also at times it makes some loud rattling noise when I push in the clutch. I figure new clutch and slave. Just want some other opinions before I blow another weekend working on the Ford. By the way it has 151,000 miles on it if that helps, and I don't think the clutch was ever replaced before I got it.
