Will my tranny fit?

Hey guys! I found a deal on a truck that has a bad Tranny (4.0L Automatic) and I have an extra tranny off of a 1991 4.0L Automatic.. will it fit the 2001 on CL?

I think the newer ones have electronic controls the older ones didnt. It will fit in the bed however.

it might bult up but thats it. the old transmision needs the OLD pcm to control the overdrive and torque converter, plus you will get codes like crazy from the 2001 if you put that trans in it.

Since according to some people on here I "don't know what I'm talking about," maybe I should elaborate more on my post. An A4LD will bolt up to the 2001 4.0, but that's about it. Getting it to actually work is another story. It is NOT a direct bolt-in, plug and play replacement. Like tonyjklh already said, You will get DTCs galore when the computer doesn't see the transmission there, and you need some way of electronically getting the A4LD to shift into 4th gear and lock up the converter. An A4LD would also be a bit of a downgrade in terms of strength, plus it's at least 16 years old, so I would just avoid this swap altogether.
