my truck has a 6in suspension and 3in bidy lift i want my ttb to flex so i heard you can put jeep springs in to give it more flex...i know you need a long arm kit and stuff like that but one step at a time...i figured i would go with 8in or 9in spring to account for the less FPT that jeep springs have ? any help ?

there are a few articles about this in this site. It's not something to go into willy nilly, there are many things that have to be considered. It does however work very well if you can address the issues.

p.s. It's a lot of work getting it right.

is my theory on the size of the springs right ?

been doing some research am i on the right track with these

If you want to run flexier coils, you'll need to drop your lift height down to 4" in order to make the geometry of your steering be more manageable.

To find the right spring that will work correctly, you'll need to know the weight of your truck's frontend, and then do the math needed to find a spring that will sit at a height between 14.5-15.5" under compression (4" lift), and having a free length of 21-22".
Remember the TTB has a 1.5" leverage ratio on the spring so if (just as an example) the front of your truck is 1900lbs (sprung weight), each coil will see approximately 1425lbs, requiring a coil somewhere around 220-240PPI in order to meet the above requirement.

Edit, I just copy & pasted your link (it's not clickable BTW). TJ springs are much too soft for RBVs, XJ/ZJ or early Bronco springs are what you should be looking at, depending on the weight of your truck.

I have changed the plans for my own Ranger project. Keeping my TTB for now. But the 6" Skyjacker Stiffazell springs is NOT an option. So I have snagged a set of 4" (unknownbrand) and 6" (Skyjacker) XJ springs to see whats going to give me what I need. I realize I might lose an inch or two of height, but I don't think it will be much of an issue. I'll get the front height figured out and then swap in some Toyota Tundra rear leaf springs (I'll have to move both front and rear spring hangers).

It would be nice if the 6" XJ springs doesn't lower the front much. But I won't mind losing an inch or two as long as I get the front to flex. My 90 Ranger is a 2.3l 5 speed truck.

ok then let me put it this way.....what can i do to get it to flex other than sas or takeing the lift out.....also i used drop hangers for a superduty turned them upside down and that gave me 3 more inches in the rear now it has alot of rake i would also like to fix it....any help

It depends on the spring rate of the xj springs, if they are the 250 pounds inch variety you should get close to the six inches on your truck. Don't forget to cycle the suspension and clearance everything necessary before you put the springs in. These springs make the front very soft so if you do much highway driving you might have to consider double shocking.

i am getting the sprins for my x-mas gift frome my girl friend.... and she needs to order them soon...lol....do u know what springs will flex a lil but mainly will bump my front end up the 3 more inches , part numbers would help me alot tx

So you are wantint 9" of suspension lift is what your saying? Bad idea TTB is not meant at all for that Check out Junkies Cardomain page and see what he has tried he is for sure the expert on this subject. IMOP I would go with 3.5" Lift Early Bronco Coils they should get ya around 6" of lift and are way softer than stock RBV springs and are usually better on a Ranger than the XJ. Even the EB springs I would still cut down to the 5" range and no matter what add dual shocks otherwise it will be all over the road.

i am not so much thinking about the flex anymore its just i want the front end level with the rear...i have skyjacker 6 in suspension lift and 3 in body but just put drop leaf hangers in the rear now it sets up 3in higher in the rear , and the rear has alwase bet a lil higher.. so i am asking what can i do do bump my front end up to level or get it close.... i will post some pics for u guys

I have 6" skyjacker on the front. I tried 2" spacers and it jacked my steering up. Right now i have a 1" stack washers welded together under the springs with the f150 drop pitman arm and the steering is still not level. Going to try without washers in the 6" holes and jeep springs and see if it stays level if it doesnt then i will have move the brackets into the 4" holes. My 35s barley clear with the 6" springs and 1" washer. If i had wheel travel i would tear my front fenders up. In a week or two i wil be taking the fenders off and doing qutie a bit of cutting for clearance.

this is starting to get a little in depth than i want right now....

I didn't understand a alot of what I read at first untill I went too 4.88 gears and replaced my shafts and rotors and hubs on the front end. I had to take most of the front end apart for it. Now that I have done that it gives me a much more clear picture. The only thing that I hate is most of the spring companys do not post spring rates on thier sites. Rustys off road has jeep springs for 100$ per pair. They say they are 180 pounds on the website but on a jeep forum they say the springs are 240 pound on a spring testing machine.

I bought 4 5150 soft valved bilstien shocks for the front, they are used but got them for 200$. Just wonder how soft of a spring these will control as I would like to make my truck an all pourpose off road truck. I don't have a lot of rocks around here mostly desert so I need it to handle some what well. The shocks are 10" travel but with the mods hopefull I will get 14-15" of usuable travel out of the front end wich is way more than enough for me. I will never go to a place like moab.
