will it fit?

I have a 5 speed transmission out of a 1991 explorer with a 4.0. I have it listed for sale , a guy has a 2001 explorer with the 4.0 engine in it needs one, both vehicles are 2 wheel drive. Will my transmission work for him? I don't want to sell it to him if it won't fit his vehicle. I have tried to search and have had no luck.

The 4.0l OHV and 4.0l SOHC have the same bolt pattern for transmissions, well actually there is an extra bolt hole so it can be used on either.

"The M50D-R1HD can be bolted to the OHV 4.0L V-6 (M50D-R1HD came with the SOHC 4.0L)"

Your '91 should be M50D-R1
