I went and picked up a new iac because ive been having the 1500 idle, except when ac is on, then its 1100...on way home from getting it, the CEL popped on.

it could but then again it could be for something else. Get the codes pulled and post them on here. Then we can diagnose. Could be something completely different than the IAC.

can i use fuel injection, air intake cleaner on the part of the motor where the iac bolts onto? it looks pretty dirty. how do I clean it safely.

also can I pull the codes myself? or will autozone pull them for free? ive heard something like that...

Yes you can use carb cleaner to clean the passages at the IAC, In fact I recommend that you clean them. Did you install the new IAC? Is the idle still high? Also, Autozone should pull the codes for free and give you a little receipt as well. Don't buy anything that they try to sell you! 99% of them don't know wtf they are doing.

i dont have carb cleaner, thought i did, i have fuel injection intake cleaner....I already put on with new gasket. Idle seems alot better, will test drive in an hour or so, got a few things to do. cel is no longer there

ok so the code is gone. For a while the idle was fine. Well As I pull up to a stop and put in neutral, its at 1500 rpm until i come to a complete stop, then it calms down to about 1000rpm and sometimes to 900. what is the idle suppose to be at anyways? I still need to change the plugs and run some seafoam treatment through the intake.

But a couple of times, not everytime like it was doing. It would stay at the 1500 rpm. So I think I have another problem somewhere. probably a vaccuum leak? but how could a vaccuum leak be intermitent.

i run seafoam through the brake booster on my maxima...where do you guys run it on a 99 3.0 ranger? I was almost thinking brake booster, or that hose from the oil filer neck that connects to the intake before the TB. Going to do this tomorrow. then change oil, and plugs. and wires, what brand wires are good? Ive never had to buy them before. also what are good spark plugs to run?
