I am wanting to know if I can buy a 88-94 2.3l cylinder head and put in on a 95-01 mine is a 97 ford ranger 2.3l. I know the cams lobes are different widths so the won't interchange without changing the can followers I think. The combustion chambers and ports are different also. There's a $250 price difference. Has anyone ever did this or know of a write up of someone doing this. I am looking for a good head without crack in it also. Thanks I know the compression is different because of the combustion chamber difference's

There is a difference in valve size also.the intake ports are different and the 95_ ones have a water port in the center of them to heat the intake. The older also have different mounting holes for the coil pack/alternator bracket then the 95+ heads.Save yourself some headaches and get the newer head

Thanks man! Your probably right because the compression would not be what the computer is tuned to have so it would more than likely cause air fuel/ ignition problems.
