Hi,

I have a buddy who has a 1999 ford ranger with the 4.0 v6 and recently rolled it but the engine and tranny still run great. The truck actually still drives other than major body damage the engine and tranny did not seem affected at all. I have a 1991 ranger with the 2.9 in it with around 210K miles on it and its starting to have problems. I was wondering if the newer 4.0 would fit without major modifications seeing as how the other 4.0's from the early 90's look close to the same and were interchangable with the 2.9's.

double check in the Tech Library here on TRS. it will answer many of your questions. but, yes, it should fit fine. will be easier swapping the engine, tranny and all. you'll need all the wiring harness, dash electricals, etc. good luck with your swap.

almost forgot... Welcome to TRS!
