probably a stupid question but will a rear axle from a '90 lincoln 8.8 fit a '94 ranger 2wd? reason i ask is i can get one for free and if it'll fit i think it's a better axle then the 7.5 that is on my truck now.:icon_confused:

Im pretty sure the 8.8 out of a town car has rear coils, but im not sure about the years.

Yes it can be made to fit. Cutting off the coil mounts will work. However the upper link mounts are cast into the top of the diff housing but shouldn't get in the way.

The only downside is that it's going to be about 63" WMS-WMS. so it will be wider than an explorer 8.8 that is 59.5".

63" sounds as wide as an f150/bronco 8.8? ill have to go measure to be sure....

the lincoln, crown vic rear axle has equal length axle shafts and is the small bearing 28 spline design.

its not worth the effort to try to make this work in any ranger
