will a 2.5" exhaust tip make a difference??

ok so im hoping for an answer today if i can because i dont have a lot of time. but i have 2 1/4" exhaust from the manifold into the cats and into the muffler and right at the end of the tailpipe there is a section thats about 7-9 inches long thats 2.5". its a stock system on a 93 XLT 4.0 OHV 5 speed. i have a tip thats about 6 inches long on there right now but i want to put a 2.5" turndown tip on it. what im wondering is if it will make a difference???

found a picture of what it looks like. eventually i want to straight pipe it and dump the exhaust in front of the rear tire.. im wanting some sound its too quiet!!

i got a 99 ford ranger 3.0 xlt 5spd. with TRUE DUALS from Headers and then lighting out side. its sounds loud and mean as hell. only sounds ricey when its cruise on 70mph on highway. other then that its nice. and i notice prob 2-5mpg... had true duals for bout 3 months.

Also, if you want.

do a 2.25 pipes true duals lighting out and throw flow 40 on it. itll quiet it a little but make a mean deep sound cause theres no cats and just pipe.

Also, my engine runs perfect with non of that bs on there with the cats and so called backpressure.

i trimmed the tailpipe a little bit and tossed the 2.5" tip on and it looks nicer.. ya didnt notice anything... i wasnt expecting any more sound from it anyways:D

If you trim about 6-inches off your tail-pipe, go to Advance Auto Parts and buy a 2 1/2" turn down tip with two screws in it that you tighten to hold it on. If they don't have one on the shelves, they can order them. Their about $8 or so. I've run them for months on my stuff, If you tighten the screws they won't fall off. They look like a normal tip, and it takes them a couple of months to rust. And when they do you can loosen the two screws and pull it off, and go spend $8 on a new one. Real tips will cost you about $50 a side at least, and rust after about 6 months. And their welded on, so replacing them is a bitch.

Your exhaust will be hitting the ground and bouncing back up, making it a little deeper and louder, instead of going out into the air and dissapating. This should hold your boredom at bay while you wait for a whole exhaust system. When you get it done, unscrew the tip and stick it on something else.

ya i put one of those type of tips on with the little screws.. but i was thinking about moving my tailpipe to in front of the rear tire because i friggin hate when it gets caked in mud. tomorrow morning im going to take the tip off and cut off the exhaust right after the muffler just before the rear end and run it like that for a while until i get my 2.5" exhaust on it.

here's a crappy picture of the tip i just put on. the tip is a little crooked because its a 2.5" tip on a 2 1/4" exhaust so i just tightened the shit out of the little screws but it looks like crap, so in the morning its getting changed.

I cut the one on my 2.3 right before it "swells" back there, and stuck a smaller turn down tip on it. It just barely sticks out from under the bed. I just got tired of that damn pipe hanging there.

ya..

the heat shield is rattling like a mofo and its really annoying so im pulling the truck into our shop today and taking the fawking thing right off, then im cutting the piece that goes over the rear end off.
