I was wondering if anyone knows if a 1998 2.3 will bolt-for-bolt into a 1996 that has a 2.3?

Both trucks have the same engine and tranny, but I was wondering if there are computer differences, etc...

?

Thanks,

H.

One thing to remember is that a 98 should be a 2.5, NOT a 2.3.

All the 2.5 is is a stroked 2.3, though, so it should work fine.

Thanks for your replies...

I'm not 100% sure what's in this parts truck I'm going to look at on Monday.
The owner told me (over the phone) it was a 2.3, but I need to make sure.

Maybe it's a late 97 and has a 2.3? Who knows.
If it's a 2.5 and it will bolt into the electronics of my '96, then good for me!

Good price and it runs good... (apparently).

a 1997 will have beams
a 1998 will have A-arms.

Either way the engine will work but if it's a 2.5 get the computer with it
