Will 6X9s fit behind the seat??

I'm sure this has probably been answerd 64 million times, but will 6x9s fit behind the seat in my '00 regular cab? I'm not worried about any triming in the doors if I were to put 6x9s in the doors. But will they fit behind the seat, or should I just stick with 5x7/6x8? There are a whole lot more options for 6x9s.

Thanks,
Matt

Try finding 5x7/6x8 first. I think but not positive the speaker grill will have to be trimmed a little bit to accept 6x9 speakers.

yes you can fit 6x9 there, you just have to widen the hole out a bit

Stick with the 6x8s, stay with the factory fit, keep it clean.

I was wondering if there are spacers to fit 6x9 speakers in the factory holes in the back of a 94 ranger reg cab? I can cut the hole bigger but the magnets are to big for the speakers to bolt up. I can make some spacers from wood but was wanting to know if anyone has a better idea. :icon_confused:

i have 6x9's behind the seats in my 97 ext cab and they fit fine...takin them out isnt that easy, but they do fit

i've been trying to figure out how to do something like how hard was this to do?

i had to make custom mounting brackets for my dash speakers, as the stock speakers had 3 mounting holes, and after market 4" speakers have 4 mounting holes.

basically it goes like this...

the old holes are connected to a cut out piece of tin metal cut to fit the entire opening (slightly rectangular with rounded corners in my case) and with a 4" diameter hole in the middle to fit the speaker. i put a small piece of weather stripping on all 3 of those holes.

i then connected the speaker to the sheet metal using the four holes for the speaker. again with some more weather stripping.

it's very easy, especially if you're going to do this on a piece which has easier access than removing the entire dash to trace templates and what not :(
