Wiggly Truck Issue

You can also have tires with the same load rating, but different amount of sidewall stiffness. Tire with less sidewall will have more squish then something with more sidewall plys.

It should say on the sidewall how many ply the tread is and how many ply the sidewall is.

Normally a P tire has less then an LT, ect, ect.

Ya just can't run shocks that are too shorter...

P rated tires shouldn't matter on an empty truck.

New tires may not be made right though.

The bushings on my original springs were shot, truck drove ok though.

Standing in the bed was like trying to stand on jello, the truck would shake rather violently. I didn't do any side to side shake test or anything though but something like that would let the axle move as well.

My 94 project I can push one handed on a bumper corner and get the truck wiggling like a puppy when his owner gets home from work… Shocks are okay, properly lubed/installed polyurethane spring/shackle bushings…
2wd rcsb Rangers have garbage spring packs. At least the 93-97 2.3/5spd ones. Will be adding a couple leaves, load assist coilovers, Duff tracbars and most likely a rear sway bar. If it still wiggles after that? Triangulated 4 bar 8.8” out of a Plastang…

Use at minimum a 108XL rated tire. Anything with softer sidewalls on a 4wd is a waste of money. My torsion bar Chebby is going SAS with C60 f/r leaf springs, but, Ranger vs K3500 is a BB to 16” naval shell comparison. And I run 120 (E, 10 ply) tires and still have tire squirm. Taking that particular project back to steel wheels and G(14 ply) bias ply mudders…

No confirmation yet on alignment after the upgrades. My truck ('08 std. cab 2WD) was spongy as hell to drive after I put a full new OEM-spec suspension under it. Steering response was delayed pretty badly, which felt like the tread followed the sidewalls when turning. It was weird. Turned out to be my caster. I took the truck in to a good alignment shop and it fixed the wobble.
