Wife decided to get baptized

Almost made me cry seeing my wife hear the call of our Lord. She stood up in church today and recieved baptisim. It almost made me cry. God bless her.

I am assuming she received the baptism of The Holy Spirit? If so, congratulations. Not too many religions care about receiving the baptism of The Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost for some of you. It actually amazes me that there are people out there that call themselves christians yet will denounce this baptism and the gift of speaking in tongues.

First off that is awesome about your wife! Congratulations! Second, the gift of speaking in tounges has its place but not as wild and free as a lot of people would think. The bible is very specific as to when and where that gift should be used. We went to one church where they wanted everyone to speak in tounges and if you didn't you were thought of a weird. That's not what the bible says at all. People need to research these things before they start spewing untruthes and turning people totally off from religion. Luckily for us we left that church and found one founded soley by the principles of ther bible and not someone's own agenda. www.fefc.com

That is very true. But there are also people and churches that say that there is no reason to speak or even pray in tongues. The apostle Paul tells us to pray in tongues often. However when it comes to speaking in tongues it should not happen more than 3 times during a church service.

That is what I like about or church as well. There are way too many churches out there that have preachers that only care about what they think is important, not what the Bible says is important.

We all speak in tounges. We all have different dialects. If a catholic church wants you to pray in latin, well, I hope you know how. I on the otherhand am catholic and speak plain english. I guess it is all personal beliefs and wants. Thanks for showing your support and may you all have a great day!

Very happy for you and your wife, I think that's fantastic, and proof that it's never too late to find the Lord.

I'm southern baptist...... we don't really speak in tongues, or scream and hollar, or dance, or clap..... but it works for us. as long as the bible is the message. We do cook some awesome meals on Sunday though, and we have a piano player that can get anyone in the spirit.

In the sanctuary there is now a trucks and churches thread, I started it. I didn't even know we had a special area for christian rbv fans until a little while ago.

i normally do not post in these kinds of threads , i have some radical views on things , i mean , i believe in God , i believe he sent Jesus down here to save us , but i have a discontentment with organized religion , i was raised Roman Catholic , i was baptized , did First Communion , was Confirmed , the whole shebang , but i spent 13 years in Catholic Schools , and needless to say i came out with strong feelings against the Catholic church.

but this is not about me and my views , this is about you wife and what a wonderful thing happened for her.

Church of Christ raised, but been backsliding for years. Really need to get back to church. Might actually do me some good.
