so i seafoamed my 2004 3.0 with 80k and sweet jesus it just pummeled out of the exhaust. Then my dad who has a 4.0 with 160k i decided to seafoam his truck just for the hell of it, and totally not what i expected. I know he's never done anything to that motor and it barley even hiccuped a small cloud of smoke? it bewildered me... :dunno:

How did you 'administer' the sea foam lol? I'm guessing from the result that you put it in a vacuum hose? You've got to make sure the drip is very slow or that will happen...and you could also hydro lock the engine.

If you're talking about just dumping it into the gas tank, then that's kind of rare that it would have some type of immediate effect like that.

I mean that stuff does work wonders.

What is your question anyway? Or are you just sharing an experience?

well i did both of them through the brake booster. i had the girlfriend in the cab holding it at about 1500rpm and slowing poured it in. just got different results. and was curious why? shouldnt the 4.0 had more smoke?

Depending on the type of driving done on the 4.0 (lot of highway or recent heavy hiway) the carbon build up may be minimal. And PS there is a small vaccum line just behind the throttle body, if you use this vaccum line you assure full system dispersment, vs the brake booster as the majority ends up in the last pair on cylinders. I use a small peice of vaccum hose to a cup on a hand vaccum bleed / pump system and fill the cup with 4 oz as instructed and use my thumb to control feed rate. No need to have some one on the gas reving the engine.

That's the problem, you poured it in...not that it's a problem, but it's going to lead to different results. Normally when we do a 3-step at work, we have an actual drip that we hook up and even on full blast it drips pretty much as fast as an IV would in the hospital. If you pour too much in, you will get some weird stuff out of the tail pipe.

We let them idle...although when I worked at Ford, for some reason, we used to rev the engine.
