Yeah, it's not like they could have been drunk or anything.

And I'd like to see someone avoid that. Honestly, she wasn't all that close to them. Avoiding road debris when it's hidden by the car in front of you is easier said than done.

if they were a driving hazard, she should have been on the phone with the police, the only reason you should be calling the company, is for unprofessional conduct... regardless, her filming, and driving with one hand is a much bigger hazard than anything that i could see on that video, other than the 2x4

in most of canada (and my province as of june) that's a $200 ticket, for filming while driving, and the fact that she posted the video online, she would have a) been found guilty for the offence, and b) had her insurance void and c) been responsible for emergency crew fees for responding, because she was breaking the law when it happened...

also, that was mostly said as a joke, but she SHOULD have been paying attention to her driving, and if the trucks she were filming were really that poor of drivers, she should have had MUCH more distance between her and them

My wife and I saw this video yesterday on the news....but we are confused about the tailgating comment....that by the way is 'Not Tailgating'... she is within the legal limit following distance. If she were on the guys ass end that would be tailgating!!! I showed this to several cop friends of mine yesterday and they said no way in hell is she tailgating.

We were wondering if this was a set up of some sort to get the video posted...dangerous if it was set up...but you can't see inside the car to see what the driver is wearing or if she was protected....but if this was really an accident...she had her Angle as he co-pilot for sure!!!!!

There's a long list of things she shouldn't have been doing, but as someone else already mentioned, even if she were following the rules of the road and paying attention i doubt she could have reacted fast enough to avoid that.

My uncle was a truck driver and had something like this that happened to him. Except that it was a rusty piece of scrapmetal and involved a lot of reconstructive surgery on his face. That happened about 13 years ago....

I see what you are saying, Bro!!! But...if she were closer this piece of wood would not have done this damage...it would have gone under her car or at least his the lower front end. Deflection is a mighty sword. My dad being an AF pilot for over 33 years studied that video and he told me that if she were tailgating she would not have been wearing the wood in her windshield!!!
I wonder if the wood is still good to use somewhere? lol

i never drive with both hands on the wheel, if you're implying that it somehow makes you safer to do so, it just feels wrong and i don't have as much control over the vehicle that way.

i'd like to know how holding a cell phone in your hand while you continue to pay attention to the road is any different than shifting in a manual, it's not like she was weaving all over the place.

unlikely, watch the initial angle that 2x4 takes. it shoots straight back first off the tire then makes a curve up and towards the center of her vehicle. if she was tailgating it wouldnt have had the space to get high enough or anywhere near the center of her vehicle

Best deterrent I have found for tailgaiters is to ease over to the side of the road. You know the place where the sand and gravel seems to always end up. Sandblast the front of their vehicle and they back off pretty quick. I don't have as much problems with this in the Ranger(it has BOGGERS on it). What pisses me of more is when I'm in my dually, with a 20' gooseneck full of cows on it, and someone pulls out in front of me, and expects me to be able to stop like a car would. Its a STOP sign, not a "roll by" sign.

I am starting to think it was staged, or "special effects". There is clearly sound yet the driver didn't say a thing. Even the toughest, coolest person on Earth would drop an f-bomb or something. Nor did the driver even drop the camera. Something isn't right there.

Yeah, don't tailgate. You never know if the person you are tailgating is in a rental car and bought the extra insurance. Who has more to loose in that situation?
