Why dogs dig gardens?

exactly.
my mom has a nice garden at home, and we have a guard dog, shes very brave and all, but shes got an urge to dig a corner of my moms plants.

a guard dog chained all the time is useless, every time we let her loose she digs up the damn corner.

i did a lil fence and it worked, but she found a way to jump it or whatever. shes always home alone when she digs. she just digs and walks away.

shes been with us for like 5 years and never did this until now.

anyone knows what can i do to solve this? lol

i dont know how well it will work for gardens, but when we run out of room in the trash can, we pour alittle bit of ammonia on the trash bags to keep animals away. maybe put alittle around the garden? i dont know what to tell you

When it's real hot out my dog will dig a hole then lay in it. Luckily she digs in the same spot. I figure a couple more years and I'll have a nice pond.

The pepper idea sounds good. You can also try one of those motion sensor sprinklers.

Yeah, sounds like she senses/smells something. You happen to smell gas from a leak or something that would cause concern?

The pee and poo ideas are good. If that does not work, try dog hair or poo from another dog.

lol, check to see if you have a rabbit nest in your garden. This happened in my mothers garden, and my German Shepard went ballistic digging. She ended up killing a baby bunny tho.
I wouldn't put pee or poo in the hole, you'll probably end up killing your veggies.
