Why doesn't Ford bring diesel Rangers to the US?

Would you buy a Ford Ranger with a diesel engine? (If Yes, pick more than one)

The US economy is built on plentiful cheap energy. A 4x increase in price while cheap by international standards is not a sustainable price and is not “cheap” in the US.
If there was a from the factory diesel ranger out there, with a 5-spd manual, even if it was more expensive I would buy it. Diesel suites a truck used for work better.
Swaps are not accessible to everyone here, many states have strict laws that mandate every vehicle to have the same engine from the factory or a newer one available as stock in the vehicle. I have thought about a swap myself in a different truck, 2x the torque and 25% better mpg. But it is not worth it to make everything legal and reliable.

Diesels have been tried here before. No one that wants them seems to have the cash. Money is the key folks. You have to put up the cash or shut the pie hole.

because here in america we gave women rights now there engineering our cars thats why we dont get it.

Part of the problum is that every one who sells a diesel in America wants a butt load for em. Ya i know they are more expensive to make, but to what extent? I meen a ranger isnt going to need a bbt6 cummins in it or a big v8 power stroke. Even a bbt4 would be over kill ( but would be sooo awsome lol) but something that had around a 3.0 I5 or something would be great in lil ranger. Ford has the time and money to develope an all new diesel for there large F series trucks im sure they could come up with something for the Ranger, but then again they problubly dont think there would be that many people buying them. Hell if i was in the market for a new truck and Ford dropped a 3.0-4.0 Diesels in there rangers I would buy one in a heart beat! If I had the money for the swap I would drop a cummins 4bbt in my ranger :D

hopefully in a few years we will start seeing some wrecked mahindra trucks appearing on ebay and other salvage car auctions. and then i could just buy one for parts and use there diesel motor in the ranger. that would be great.

Good luck importing that...

His profile says he has a 1993 Ranger Quad Cab. I doubt he is in the USA.

He was in the process of building a quad cab Ranger. I think he abandoned that project and instead decided to import a Ranger from overseas into the United States. At least that's what I recall from reading his threads, but it's been a while since I've read them.

You'll never be able to import one... It must be 25 years old or older, or be on a certain list of "permissable" vehicles and be imported by a registered importer (meaning you have to pay them to have a certified shop bring it up to it's years specific safety standards [no, you cannot do this yourself])... So, first if it's even on this magic list it's going to be ridiculously expensive, if it's not on the list you're screwed even if you have tons of money...

Seeing as it is a Variant of a US offered vehicle, he may be able to arrange Import thru Ford Motor Company

yes quad cab splash no not done yes life has stopped that
import is an option i am working on have the details so still working it out will update
atempting to bring in an 07 ranger limited 3.0 gonna cost about 30,000

Why not a Diesel Hybrid?

IMNSHO: a diesel hybrid makes a lot of sense (cents). A diesel does have a few disadvantgeous (not many) to a gas model and a hybrid would overcome them.

Also IMNSHO Ford execs made a terrible mistake when they discontinued the 4 banger diesels.

Most of us do not need a PU that rivals a Kentworth

Drop by drop a raindrop carves away the stone.

import via a military member still works :)
