My world is filled with stuff that needs to be fixed
What is different?

I'm not an expert on model year differences on a 3.0... but I would have to say technology is probably most of it... calibration. Most all of these engines are de-tuned prior to putting them into the hands of Joe Public.

It's probably almost 100% tuning.

switched from cast aluminum to plastic intake manifolds about that time. different fuel management to accommodate alcohol, flex sensors eliminated about then. fyi, max power is sometimes obtained while using E85.
