Why am I not surprised here???

Floormats causing accelerator pedals to get stuck down? Please. Move the damn floormat.

That incident(s?) was clearly just a representation of the driver's idiocy.

Thats the difference between Toyota and Ford drivers, Ford drivers where smart enough to scoot the floormat back 1 inch.

Well you can't do that exactly if its a factory floor mat... well you can but most dont think about it. I assume the mats are like my moms floor mats on her subaru that have plastic pins that stick out with the factory floor mat and hold it in one place...then you can take it out anc clean it and put it right back in its place.

No offense to engineers, but really?:shok: Pins for the floor mats, that's what those nipples are for on the bottom of the mat!:icon_rofl:

i think its time to put on the flame proof vest....again lol
+1 on the "driver idiocy"
u dont need 20 years of experience to notice that the mat could get stuck and it would be best if u pull it an inch back
i do it everytime i get into my truck, even that i have rubber mats and they wont stuck, i do it so the dirt wont go to the carpet.

This whole thing is getting blown out of proportion. I know most of the recalls only have 100-200 incidents per issue (not for Toyota, but the NTSB).

I mean, it's not like they have a problem with spontaneously bursting into flames or anything... *looks around as if uttered a curse word at a church*

lol...and now Toyo-duh is facing possible criminal charges. This just keeps getting better. The "mighty" japanese auto industry isn't as good as ppl think :P All useless junk anyway.

HAHAHA! I understood that one. :icon_rofl:

At any rate, I'm not sure what it can be chocked up to. I would really like to say driver idiocy, but as was stated before, a LOT of vehicles these days do have those little plastic clips built into the carpet for the mat, which then makes it almost impossible to move back. HOWEVER... that's not saying that they can't just go buy new floormats from anywhere and have them not stick.

All we need is that guy that turns this place into the Tacoma Station to come and tell us exactly what is going on. :icon_idea:

My aftermarket mats eventually work themselves forward every couple of months and I have to pull them back when my clutch pedal doesn't pop back out.

My ranger had one of those pins for the OEM mats, actually. The idea is the pin will keep the mat from sliding forwards and getting stuck in the pedals. Looks like toyota dropped the ball when they took their measurements.

As far as that one, when the 2005 Tacoma's first came out there was a problem with the spring in the cigarette lighter being too strong and if left unattended could shoot itself out and set fire to the seat.

It was all over the web a couple years ago but now I can't seem to find any articles on it.

Maybe it's a Toyota Conspiracy!

....Or maybe I've just finally lost my mind.

yea ok dont be hatin on a truck that can run circles around your ranger. hahahaha jk but really thou its remarks like this that turn it into it.

and ford also puts those little plastic clips stock on trucks and expos as well. my moms expo had them and you couldnt just put a new mat over them cause the mats will just move futher forward even faster than before. lets not over look all fords problems either like said before me bursting into flames for a good example. i think its just drive stupidty that causes it people who dont pay attention and have a shop change their oil.
