It took a trip to the junkyard and a saw, cut it out of an old jeep and test fitted it in a junkyard ranger that matched the size of mine. Took it home and it sat in my back yard for awhile till i bought drill bits, paint, and stuff. What do you guys think of this?
Dont mind the different sized tires and wheels in the last pic, was just testing some tires i picked up for cheap.

Best parts are that it came off a jeep and cost me $30

Can't beat a good price. I can't view the image (I think my work just blocked Photobucket). I'll check this thread again later...

It looks to be a good fit.

I've been looking for a cheap roll bar so I can mount some day lighters on it or some piaa 525's.

My concern would be is it for show or would it save your life in a roll? The front part of a box is not really supported too much and enough force would push the supports right through the box...unless, of course, there is a nice piece of metal under the front mounts that would help prevent that.

Even if you are not intending to go off road or otherwise drive like a maniac...doesn't take much to roll a vehicle without even trying too hard...so any investment like that, to me, would need to include some level of safety improvement...

Otherwise, it does look good...I was looking at them myself not too long ago and that was when I found out the front of the box needs to be reinforced...

No, it needs to go to the frame if it is going to really be a "roll bar" Most bars you get are made light enough that they wouldn't do anything anyway.

I love mine, makes the long box look shorter and it looks cool looking out the center mirror or out the back window. Also a dandy place to mount my Sirius satellite radio antennae. Probably one of the better $20 bills I have spent on the truck.

Do you happen to have pics of this? That would explain things better...and, yes, of course, the frame is best...

Hmmmmm....maybe someone has done a "how to build a roll bar"...

I dont do anything to crazy so the way im thinking about iy is that it will take some of the blow atleast, when i really get into working on my truck ill have a whole new bed cage thing going on weld to the frame and stuff
