I want to have Line-X sprayed in the bed of the recently purchased Stepside Bed (not the truck just the bed).
Since I have heard the quality of the product is in the application process how does someone find out who does it best.

My question for all, WHERE do I get done ?

Anyone have comments they would be appreciated.

I'm not sure where to get it done locally, but i'm going to do hurculiner myself. I have heard it is easy and a lot cheaper to do.

u can search for spray in bed liners and places that do them i did them when i worked at a body shop our price was 300 on short bed and 400 on long bed line x charged 450 for short and 550 for long i would not use a roll on style liner such a hurculiner it does not go down thick enough and after a year or so it will start to pop up rhino liner is another good liner it can be colored to match your paint it doent fade like line x does but it get slick when it is wet

Thanks for the replies guys.

I did the search and found a number of Line-X Installers but there is always the question about which one.
I was looking at the guy in Salem, MA, but did not know if anyone had heard of a better one or any problems with certain installers.
All of the Web info states that the install prep is the most important part and to check the installers spray booth, if clean and orderly then there is a good chance that he is a good installer.
Line-X says they will back their installer and that they have a program in place to train them in the "proper procedures of installation" so if the Line-X Name is there then you will get a good job; what me worry ???:icon_twisted:
The roll-on liner is not an option, it isn't that I have a lot of money to spend for spray-in, because I don't (got laid off), but I have not heard a lot of good things about long term performance.

Thanks for the input,

Line-X is a good choice. I have been using mine for 7 years hauling tools and assorted gear for my race car along with other hauling duties. There are some areas (edges of corners) near the rear of the bed that have worn kind of smooth from sliding heavy stuff across it but has not come close to wearing through yet. If is does wear through you can take it to any Line-X dealer and they will repair it under warranty.

I just took it to the Line-X dealer that was closest to me. They didn't even have a spray both because it is not needed. The bay where they spray was clean and they just used a lot lot of plastic film to catch any possible over-spray. Line-X is not sprayed like conventional paint. It is thicker and is just sprayed under pressure after heating and mixing the two components. I am pretty sure no air is used.

They took the bed bolts out so they would not be glued in if I ever wanted to remove them later. The only mistake they made was not putting the bolts back in the correct place. My bed bolts are different length. Fortunately, I check the bolts to make sure they were torqued properly and found two bolts that did not reach the nuts. I relocated the bolts to their proper location and all was well.

Ive got one and had it since this February. It has taken a beating. I work for a general contractor so anything goes in it. lumber, steel, tools, rocks, cement. and almost all of it gets thrown in (except for the tools). And so far so good. I wash it and it looks like new. I think you can do it anywhere as its the same product for all of them. I would strongly advise you get it sprayed "over the rails" it will save the top of your bed when you slide things in. It does cost a little extra but is an investment.

I've had my Line-X for 4 years. It has worn well. I've hauled engines, sand, gravel....you get the picture. I can tell you right now that it doesn't chip. It bends with the metal and doesn't peel.

Hey Guys, thanks for the input.

I am sold on using the Line-X and will check out the local guys first.

The stepside bed I am getting done is off of the truck so it will make it easier to get it done.
I am planning on coating the underside of the bed and the outsides up about 6 to 8" and making sure the wheel well area is covered too. Then get the bed painted and after the paint has had time to set up I will go back for the inside of the bed to be sprayed.

Thanks again for the input.

ltr,
