I just bought a 1990 Ranger 2.3, 5 speed manual, 2wd for a project truck for me and my 12yr old nephew to work on together.
The book says it has one of the two makes of transmission: Mitsubishi or a Mazda. I cant figure out which this ranger has. I've looked up the VIN and the tag on the transmission and can't find a definite answer.
The book says all manual transmissions take SAE 80W transmission fluid except for the Mazda which takes MERCON automatic fluid. My luck it would be the Mazda and I put the wrong fluid in.
Can someone identify my transmission?
