Well I've been trying to find out if I can even use a supercharger on my engine and if so which route is better to go. Turbo or supercharger. My main goal I added power so I can get a 6 inch lift with 35's. And whichever is te best where can I find thenkitfor an 08 ranger xlt

most of the turbo talk you hear in reguards to the 2.3 is the lima based engine. parts and aftermarket following this engine is huge and readily available. there is proably turbo or supercharger stuff available for your engine, but i dont this there is anything on this site for it in the tech library. most of the late model rangers with turbo 2.3's have swapped in a turbo coupe, mustang svo, or xr4ti engine from the 80's. you could try pokeing around turboford.org or turborangerforum.com and see if they have some info on your particular setup you have in mind

your best bet would probably be turborangerforums, turboford is not newb friendly.

Technically a turbo is more efficiant, It requires less power to create the for a simular outcome. hypathetaclly a turbo engine with 8-10lbs of boost would create the same HP as a supercharger with 10-12lbs. specifically that may not be exact but thats the idea

None of the engine specific 2.3 Lima parts work on a 2.3 Duratech, so forget about all the Lima parts and swaps you've read about.

I've never heard of supercharging the duratech. Not that it can't be done, but you're probably going to be sailing into uncharted waters.

You also won't find a turbo kit for a ranger, but I do believe they're made for the Focus, which has/had the same engine your ranger has. It won't exactly be a bolt on for the ranger, but it should give you a good collection of parts to start with. If you've got some decent fab skills and tools, and have a good knowledge of how turbocharging works, it should be doable for you.

If you don't have skills, tools, and/or knowledge, I'd recommend trading your '08 in on a different ranger with a 4.0L.

probably the best advice i've heard.

everything is doable, but you gotta climb some hills before you are ready for the mountains.

I've got a supercharged Lima, and thus far, I'm the ONLY person I've ever encountered who has put a blower on that engine. Honestly, if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't bother. I like having boost, and I've now solved all the "issues" with the install, but when you pioneer a new approach there is NO ONE who can really help you.

Now, if that's what you want, good for you! However, I caution that you should also be prepared to spend a great deal more money for a blower install than an equivalent turbo.

one way to get some parts for a turbo swap on a duratec would be locate a wrecked mazdaspeed 3 and see what all parts you can salvage. its a turbo duratec so you might be able to adapt alot of the parts over to the ranger set up.
