Just purchased a new luk slave cylinder from rockauto. It came with the "rounded" bearing style and my new luk clutch came with a replacement "square" bearing style. I'm wondering if it's worth trying to swap it to the nicer looking square style or not?

Blue plastic one is the square style where just the top face spins

Yellow plastic one is the rounded style. It has a generous fillet and the whole metal part spins.

They both look round to me.

You're not squinting enough.

I'm sorry, I don't have a definite opinion on which is better. That being said, the "square" bearing on the blue one does look beefier.

I agree the blue one is beefier. And has less play in it. However I risk damaging the cylinder trying to swap it out. If only they didn't give me the extra part and then I wouldn't have to overthink this.

This is what I would do.

1. Hem and Haw over it for about three hours to three weeks, depending on how bad I needed the trans back together.
2. Take the easier of the two options and slam it back together so I can get the thing back on the road.

@schmoot
I would use the bearing that came with the clutch.
