Which seals go bad in 5 speeds?

I bought a 5 speed out of an 09 2.3 Ranger for my 2004 Ranger 2.3. This new tranny has only 1500 miles on it. So I know for the future,, where are the seals that go bad in these trannies and cause them to leak fluid? Can anyone post pictures? The new tranny came with the slave cylinder. Does anyone know if 09s use the same slave cylinder as my 04?
 
The rubber plugs on the top cover get a lot of blame, but the one that'll kill the transmission in a few DAYS (you can leave the shift rail plugs OFF and it'll take a month or two to blow enough fluid out to fail) is the tailshaft seal.

For some unfathomable reason ford decided to put a seal between the "blind space"
inside the tailshaft housing and the rest of the trans.
On most transmissions simply bolting the t-case into place holds the oil in the trans.

But ford went one step too far... they included a drain "squiggle" in the gasket surface where the T-case bolts up so if either the tailshaft seal on the trans or the input seal on the T-case does go bad the oil can escape out of the trans/t-case gasket surface.

IF you simply pull the T-case back and put a blob of silicone there you
can literally forget to install either seal and the only thing that'd happen
is you'd "lose" about a pint of fluid into that "blind space"

after which you couldn't lose a single drop...

Dumb.

ive thought about sealing that up. both the trans/T-case use the same fluid, so if you had that adaptor cavity filled with atf you could in theroy have no output seal on the trans and no input seal on the T-case and be just fine. i wonder how much fluid you could be down before you ruin stuff? i check my oil levels at every engine oil change.
 
On my personal transmission there is no blob of silicone.

I drilled and tapped a hole and epoxied an Aluminum bolt inth the
squiggle then filed it smooth.

VERY permanant.

Previously I've had a blob of weld added there, but that was too
much of a PITA to get done.

I'm still mentally working on a way to have a remote oil reservoir a circulation pump and an oil cooler (and most importantly a filter) plumbed to the manual transmission...
If I ever work out the bugs with the idea (building it inside my head first)
I'll actually build it.

ive thought about that too, not so much a cooler, though that would be a idea as well, but a circulation pump with a small spin on filter like some briggs V-twin lawnmowers have.
