Neighbor has a '00 Ranger with open 7.5, 3.73 ratio rear end. What years would I find a direct swap for his '00? How about a Mazda truck... what years are a direct swap?

Any rear end 93 and up. You'll just have to get the gear ratio you need. Preferably try to get an 8.8.

(92 and down are 2" narrower)

as sasquatch said , any 93 or newer rear axle , my 2000 had the same rear axles as your neighbors and so far the first time i swapped axles the axle came from a 96 4x4 Ranger , the second time ( today ) i swapped axles ( first axle had the wrong gears and a shoddy rebuild ) the axle came from a 95 Ranger 4x4

on a side note , what part of West By God Virginia you from ?

I am in WV and have 2 rear ends from trucks I parted that are 7.5 3:73's.

I just put 8.8 with 3.73 and limted slip out of 94 ranger in my 09 ranger and the only issues i had was: the 94 had a smaller o.d axle flange where the drum slides on, and the wheel cylinders had different size fittings. Other then that completly bolt in.
