I was going to remove the lift blocks and put a 4" lift spring in the back to give me just a little extra lift. After I set it down I was going to bring up the front to match whatever I ended up having.

The question is which 4" lift leaves to use?

I was looking at summit with there skyjacker stuff but was wondering if there is a better spring? I want to DD this truck with a little wheeling on the weekend. I have to move a little firewood and odds and ends, nothing to heavy.

What are you smart guys running?

For a off the shelf lift spring, the skyjacker springs are the best springs. They are a bit softer then the superlift springs.

With the skyjacker springs the lift height is with the factory block left in.So if you take the block out, you will need to subtract the height of the block from the lift you will get.

I had the skyjacker springs on my truck when I first got it, they were not bad springs for off the shelf lift spings, road nice, could still haul some weight, and were compliant off road.

If your not going to haul much over 300 lbs or so and want flexy or long travel ,deaver, national spring, and alcan can set you up.But they are about twice the price of the skyjacker spring, but twice the spring too.

i ahve the skyjacker springs..no complaints at all. i have the overload spring out of them and ive had two dirt bikes in the back (about 500 lbs) and it barely squatted about 2 inches

how much block are you trying to get rid of?

I'd like to take the factory block (about two inches) out and bolt the spring right to the axle for less wrap. I did this on an old Dodge and it worked good.

I don't need four inches lift, but would like maybe two. If I need more height in the backend I'll just extend the shackle.

If thats what youre looking for then i would suggest getting a set of 4 leaf explorer springs, and a set of belltech shackles....should get you just about where you want, and should be fairly cheap to do. I got my leaves from an explorer in the bone yard for 80$

I like the idea of a four spring instead of three. Does the xploder spring sit a couple inches higher than the Ranger?

Does it matter what year sploder? Thanks Nathan.

yeah its sat a couple inches higher, i got mine from a 96...and make sure its from a 4 door... if it has a towing package even better.

I just bought the four inch Skyjacker leafs and I'm having trouble getting the driver's side on. The springs are just not long enough to reach from the rear shackle to the front hanger because of the arc...is there a technique/trick to getting it on? I got the passenger side by jacking up the axle and which kind of pushed the end of the leaf spring into the hanger; however, the driver's side is not even close. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

i always bolt the front hanger on first, as it is much easier to swing the shackle down to meet teh spring. How tight are your bolts? they should be finger tight, and then when its on the ground with weight it should be final tightened.

Yeah everything is finger tight. The center bolt in the leafs almost seems to be too far forward (towards the front of the truck). When the front is bolted in to the hanger, the center bolt doesn't reach the hole in the spring pad..would it be a bad idea to just drill a new hold in the spring pad? That doesn't seem to be the correct solution to the problem, especially since I got the passenger side in just fine. Possibly I'm just a rehtard..ha.

your rearend probably moved when you had the springs out. i just change mine started the front one bolt first had a jack under the bumper and jack it way up till i was able to get the rear bolt started then just grabbed the rearend and moved to wear i needed it.
