Sorry if its been asked to many times but I'd like some opinions. I need to decide shortly which one I buy and they don't seem that different except for the price.

That one is 380 and this one is 500?...

They seem similiar, install without removing the carrier and both are going to do what I want. 31 inch tire, 3.73, stock power blah, blah.

Anybody know? Thanks Al.

I take it you have a Trac-Lok rear carrier now?

I don't know what to make of that last part number (PTX1821 LR), doesn't show up as a Richmond part number. Do a Google on it and it comes up with a use for a Courgar. Summit has that first part for $470+. Don't know anyone what has actually had the money to do a side by side comparison of the No-Slip and the Lock-Rite. See you were at the post just below where he was happy with his Lock-Rite. Be careful in where you do buy one, can't tell you which is better. Even the Richmond gear application chart is wrong! They have the same part for both the 28 and the 31 spline rear.

Seeing as how I'm gonna be gentle with it (small tires, no power) I'll prolly go with whatever is cheapest...

Thats a good price. Last time I looked for one they were 500 bucks and only offered by PowerTrax.

After looking at both links, they are the same one. Just one web site has it listed as a Lockright. But in the ad you can see its a Powertrax.

I say thats a good price, maybe even a misprint price...

Both the No-Slip and Lock-Rite are PowerTrax units, made by Richmond Gear. Did some more looking in the application guide and that 1821 number translates to a unit for a 31 spline open rear end, Lock-Rite. That first site you posted is screwed up. That's about the normal price for the Lock-Rite. The No-Slip is normally around $480-510 as shown in the Jegs catalog.

Thought only 1 maker for the locker that goes in the LS carrier.

You are correct! I kind of thought I explained the differences and which unit was available in the open or L/S applications. I can look at a picture and tell the difference between the two.

One is a lock right and used to not be offered for a "trak lok" carrier and this model you reference is a new addition that does. The other is a no-slip and will work in a trak lok (that is limited slip) carrier and is the more expensive of the two. and is more "streetable". I can vouch i have both. Both have similar designs. the lockrite ratchets and clicks, while the no-slip engages smoothly and never makes any noise. Both accomplish the same thing with the same results. TRACTION. If i were to do it again I would do the no-slip over just because its road manners are mild and could be compared to a super tight limited slip. I love the difference offroad tho its awesome.

If price is a real concern go with the cheaper one. BUT whats $120 in the long run? two tanks of gas and 3 starbucks? I'd save another few weeks and get the no-slip you wont regret it.

Also tellico4x4 has better pricing. Mine was around $480 shipped to my door (no-slip):

Funny I was thinking the same thing as I was typing it! Good advice, Thanks Al.
