Which dual-sport bike is best?

My bike is a cruiser (not a dual sport of course)

It's an 85 Yamaha xv1000, not sure how cruisers stack up to dual sports, but I would imagine more power out of xx cc's than a dual sport of the same...

So, yesterday I got back from a little road trip to my buddy's house, on the way back I went by a dealership that had the KLX 250, the DRZ-400, and the KLR 650 all in the same place, they also had a Yamaha 250R I think is what it was called?

I tried all four out, and even got a chance to take a 2010 KLX for a short ride.
I gotta say, of all of them I'm stuck between the Yamaha and the KLX. and I'm leaning toward the KLX, It fits me well, just gotta stiffen up the rear shock a tad bit, and I was satisfied with the power it has, I can always put on a nice pipe and rejet for more ponies, plus there always is the big bore 351 kit :D
And....the dealer offered to waive all dealer fees and reimburse me for the cost of my safety course that I took for my endorsement. So I'm looking at $4800 out the door for a new 2012 KLX 250. I'm preety satisfied with that :icon_hornsup:

That sounds like a good deal for a bike you seem happy with... Who makes it?

Kawasaki makes it. I'm looking forward to making it mine soon lol The reason I like it so much is it's just so comfortable, and it's not very heavy at all, especially for my size. I have a feeling it's going to do great on the trails.

KLX 250 is a blast to trail ride, and great around town, now out on the highway, or longer trips, like 80+ miles, you will more than likely be wanting for a larger displacement.

That sure sounds like a great deal though. Ride what you like, in the end that's all that matters.
