Which Alternator ?

Hey guys,

My Alternator has seen the end of its life. I must replace it can you tell me if any of these will be fine for my ranger. I have a 1996 4.0 xlt 2wd. These are the options http://www.canadapartsonline.com/se...4&universal=0&Nf=price6|GT .01|shipping2|GT+0.

Will any of these work, and would it be better to have a 95A or a 130A Alternator?
Also what are your thoughts on New vs Re-manufactured?

Looks like all will be fine but check the number of grooves for the serpentine belt on current alternator, there will be 6 or 8, depending if you have A/C or not, and get the part that has that pulley, changing pulleys is a pain sometimes.

More amps is better if it is not an "off-brand"

Re-manufactured is fine for a 1996 unless you plan to keep it for another 20 years
If you live in a larger town you can often find local shops that rebuild(re-manufacture) alternators/starters, and they usually have a walk in/walk out exchange for popular models, so worth a look and call.

To be clear, what you are saying is make sure I get one that has the same number of groves, or I will have to change the pulley?

I have got a 95 amps on my unit.... the same one used on modern 1,6 liter Ford here.

Not sure if I am counting the ridges or the dips and since there are both 5 and six ridge alternators listed I am just gonna toss some pics up. What do I need the one with five or six ridges.

That's 6 grooves on the pulley
6 ridges on the belt
