I need to know if Mean Green alternators or if Iraggi alternators are any good if anyone has one. Im going to be getting a better sound system and i need to eliminate the light dimming as much as possible. I know all about caps and such. Just need to look into alternators

... so why do you need a better alternator? Get a good capacitor and youll be fine. My alternator is a duralast and it holds up pretty well to what i have.

Um NO, you should upgrade your alternator and battery LONG before you wast money on a cap.

Caps are a band aid fix. Don't give this bad advice again.

I love the alternator I got from www.motorcityreman.com . I came with a life time warranty.

mechman alts have a very good reputation. im still deciding on a 2nd battery myself (kinetik or batcap) have you upgraded the big 3 underhood wiring?

what the hell are you guys running that you need to upgrade the alt in at most an extended cab ranger? Ive gotat most 1200 watts @ 4ohms rms between my two amps and only when I turn it up too loud at night time with my highbeams do I ever see it dim a little. Get a cap and don't play your music so damn loud.

Like I said before, power caps are a TEMPORY fix. Any GOOD car audio installer/professional will tell you the same.

thats a bunch of bs. If you're pushin something 1500 watts rms or higher you -might- start to invest in an alternator. Even still you'll make your ears bleed first anyway. And I highly doubt many people are makin that kinda juice except for the few real bassheads we have.

Obviously you don't know anything about how an audio system works if you think more power = more loudness...

I don't think more power equates to loudness. I like how quick you are to jump to alternator being the solution over the "quick fix cap" of his "better" audio system when nobody has asked what he's actually getting

Ok, I just read your sig, I respect you might know what you are talking about now... It really doesn't matter what he is doing, an alternator will be a better long term fix, whereas a capacitor is more of a band aid/lower level fix... We didn't say anything about caps because he didn't want to know about them... He wanted to know about alternators...

I try to keep things low cost. Most people take a 5 min run through best buy and think they need an alternator, 16 12" woofers, neon lights, and 8 6x9 two ways to fill up the cab. This is his first post and an alternator seems like a lot of time and money if he truly does not need one.

I guess you don't understand the concept of "fix it right the first time". You will learn.
