What year, what engine...those two pieces of information are required to answer your question with any kind of accuracy...
 
The engine will have two coolant temperature sensing devices. One is a engine coolant gauge sender. It will have one wire going to it. This indicates how hot the engine is via your dash gauge.

The other is called and engine coolant temperature sensor, it tells the computer the temperature of the engine coolant for engine management purposes. It will have two wires going to it.

And yes, the year of the truck, and the engine type would be a big help. My computer won't open the link.:)shady
