put the xploder back together and had my neighbor help me.

my neighbor is a ford mechanic at the local dealership. i went inside came back out he had the vacuum lines and everything all hooked up. i was like cool.

drove it around and when i go about half throttle it kinda spudders like its got no power. if i go full throttle it dont do it. but it still feels under powered.

the dude told me that its just supposed to sit up there like that. and its just a breather whole but its got that little metal thing on it like a fuel relay or a overflow valve or something.

so i looked under the hood and found this... wtf is it and where does it go?

I'm pretty sure that is supposed to plug into the manifold somewhere.

that looks like the vent line from the charcoal canister for the fuel tank vent.the metal canister is the valve that the computer opens to purge the canister when the engine operating conditions are right.it should be routed to the underside of the throttle body, where there is a port for it to plug into.

reminds me of the hose that plugs in to a valve cover on the 2.9s

ya i thought it went into one of those multi ports but i could find one that it fit into. i think thats why its running like shit. but im not sure.

the neighbor got in it last night and red lined it. with the radiator unhooked. and in the exhaust u can hear one cylinder firing off from the rest.

im starting to think it might be a warped head... =( i hope not.

but ill plug and play c if i can get it to go in any where. all the ports r iether used or in the wrong angle

Just looked at my 92 4.0lt Ranger. The end that is sticking up in your picture is attached to the port on the charcoal cannister and the other end goes to the port sticking down from the throttle body that you can see in your picture. Hope that helps.

I think Derek is right. I think it's on backwards, but it is def the canister line.

haha u guys r good. u were right. it got rid of the annoying hissing sound i had. and got all my power back =].. i love this forum!!

i still feel that its misfiring in a cylinder. and i just put brand new platinum plugs in 200 miles ago. but i think one of them is fryed. gonna pull those and see. that only thing i can think of that would make it do that.
