I just bought a '93 XLT 4x4 Ranger and need to buy some parts for it...

I have a NAPA and autozone in my town, along with a Ford dealer, and a bunch of locally owned garages.

Where do you guys buy parts at? Locally or online?

Finding parts for a 19 year old truck sometimes is not easy...

plugs+wires
fuel filter
gas tank sending unit
some misc. engine and suspension parts...

Can people please post some good websites to order Ranger parts, ford parts, OEM stype stuff from?

Thanks guys! :icon_cheers:

a lot of times online. I check the prices online and compare a lot to get the best deal. If i need a part right that second I usually go to advance or autozone.

Lots of options depending on whether it's a typical supply item like fluid, standard issue bulk manufacturing item that generally isn't screwed up, or a precision piece that may be better acquired through the dealer. If it's something that I can have reasonable faith in the quality of what's available through the chain auto parts stores, I'll go to Advance because I can order it online and knock off about 30-40% with coupons. Some parts are available through RockAuto that you can't get in the chain stores. If it's important to get factory Motorcraft quality, check your dealer (and call around because not all parts departments seem to quote the same prices).

wires i buy local, lifetime warranty stuff.. i change mine often
plugs i buy local b/c i get them when i swap out my wires

other parts it depends on if i need it now or can wait till later... if i can wait i'll usually order from RockAuto.com, just to save the money. it seems most parts are half price or so...

if i need them that day, i do most of my shopping at advance auto parts now. i know the manager of the local store. a lot of my truck is already on warranty at autozone, so i use them for warranty replacements.

regardless, 4.0 parts are not usually hard to find. i don't have troubles getting parts for my 1988 b2 either. dealer doesn't have a lot of them, but other local stores do.

One more I forgot: Amazon.com.

If you know the part number, look it up on there and you may be shocked at the prices. Works out great if you have a Prime shipping account and it's offered that way.

The easy stuff I buy locally (Autozone)

The hard to find stuff like Suspension (Dana 35 TTB ugh...) I buy online.

What are some good, well known, reputable ONLINE stores that carry Ford and Ranger OEM parts, or OEM replacements?

Yeah, there are two that were mentioned already........

www.rockauto.com - I buy Motorcraft parts there all the time. And sometimes for less than I would get the chinese crap at Autozone.

www.amazon.com - They have some Motorcraft parts, it's hit and miss on pricing.
