Where can I find 3.08s for a Dana 28?

I have been looking, but no luck. Supposedly they were available. Would like to know what combo had them installed originally?? And/or where they can be bought new? Thanks

I've got a very old 4WP catalog ('92, I think... missing cover) that shows a Dana/Spicer pt# of 707080-1X, though I have no idea if they are even still being made at all (I highly doubt it).

I'm quite curious too, why you want so shallow gears?

Wow, if nothing else , everybody here is consistent. I have a V8 and I want to cruise . . . . I'd take some 2.73s if they made them

3.08's were a factory option even for a dana 28, not common but they do pop up. For example, a 1985 ranger 4x4 xlt that rolled out of the factory with a 2.8, 4 spd and axle code 82 [ 3.08 open ] gears thats sitting in my yard.

I came across this thread when I was trying to find 3.08s for a D35, while gathering parts for my Cummins swap. It looks like he was looking to swap out the 3.08s in his D28 with 3.73s, but that was a WHILE ago.

I called Motive Gear. They said that catalog referenced must be really old. He said that number is no good on the gear and it shows discontinued . . nothing from Dana as well. Thanks . . back to looking for a used one.
