just cracked open the rear speaker grill and I realized the wires aren't there? whats the deal. I'm guess the xl reg cab only came with door speakers, but did ford spend money on running the rear wires?

sounds like you got owned budy! i have an regular regular cab (ie no bells and whistles) and i have rear speakers does it maybe look like somebody took them out and tucked the wires in? if not well time to go and fish your new wires in!

My 2005 Mazda 4 dr came stock w/AM/FM and 2 frt speakers. I was hoping they at least ran wire to the rear when I upgraded the stereo, but they didn't. I ended up running my own. :annoyed:

honestly on this car audio website they even suggest this and thats just running a nice set of front stage speakers and not even worry about the back. but thats if you got a nice sub and stuff. thats how i got my setup. i got backspeaker but they aint hooked up. every now and then ill hook up my lil pioneer amp to them but you cant really tell much difference.

I'm at the 1st stage of this install. I suffered the am/fm for as long as I could, but when I was buying components and had the option to get 2 pairs of speakers on closeout for less than the cost of 1 pr normally I jumped on it.

I'm currently running (4) Infinity 6822's running straight off the Sony HU. I have a Sony 5ch amp that came from my last pickup, and will install that when I can figure out a sub solution.

I've gotta say though, for right now the 4 Infinity's (Infinities?) (Infintii???) sound pretty sweet. Can't wait to put some power to them!

in a truck, you dont have a lot of sub stage or rear stage. so if you have good fronts you may not need them. how ever they can offer alot of fill in the mid bass range thats nice to have

yeah if i remember correctly, they didnt bother runnin em, just run your own wires, its simple enough, and if you have the place, and power to run em. i say hey you cant have too many speakers.

in a home sytem, i can agree.

in a car/truck, too many speakers is a big no no.

in a car. 4 speakers, and 2 tweeters is ideal.

in a truck, 2 speakers, 2 tweeters.

well what about like steve meade and stuff?

honestly that stuff is cool, but obviously way too excessive. but i'm sure it sounds pretty awesome, even without the subs... is it too many speakers? would it sound better with just 4 speakers?

the wires are there...its just a matter of how much of your truck you wanna tear apart to find them....if you look at the harness behind the radio, the rear wires are there, however im not sure where they terminate. maybe in the dash? maybe behind the paneling in the back? who knows?! lol

like what has been said so far...get some nice fronts on an amp and that will be ideal. you dont need rear fill speakers in a ranger.
