Good luck with the Army....I will give you some sense of a wake up calling, Bro.....you will be stationed where they want you and most likley you won't be driving since you will have to live on base barracks and a lot of bases won't let enlisted own a vehicle if you live on base. Raptors are over $40,000 and good luck getting a loan. Especially a new recruit at your pay.
My wife and I were going to buy a new flats boat. Mine was getting old and I wanted a new one and did not want to touch our savings. I went to the credit union at MacDill AFB when I was I was a Special Operations Combat Diver (UDT EOD). I made $29,000 base pay and I made over $700 tax free diving pay and hazardous pay. I also owned an 87 Corvette and we lived rent free in one of my Parents homes that was paid off. I only had to pay electric/gas, water and garbage collection. I was told by MacDill Federal Credit union that I did not qualify for a loan because I was merely an enlisted dirt bag. They told me only officers get a loan at the credit union!!! The next week my wife and I closed out my account... $35,000 in saving and $20,00 in checking. For over 6 years I had been saving my $700 a month tax free pay and they treated me like that.
Make sure you gat everying in writting they say they are giving you...cover your ass 'CYA'...
Good luck to you!!!
So just watch out, Bro. I am giving you some down to earth advice. List to me as well on this....whenever you can..make copies of you medical exams or any injuries you receive in the military. I am 80% disabled and I have fought the VA for a long time to get another pension since the military exposed me to hazardous materials and did not want to let any of us know about it!!!
