Wheel bearings obliterated. Will spindle and hub be okay?

it's a 95 b2300, 4-banger, 5-spd manual. bearings were torgues to x ftlbs instead of x inchibs. how can i tell if spindle and hub surfaces are okay? Eyeball them? Free of obvious scratches/grooves, etc?

chances are you have messed them up good... but yeah, i would measure for out of round and any abnormal warping... inch lbs and foot lbs is a difference of a factor of 12, so think of it this way... if the max load for the bed of your truck was 1,000lbs, you just put in 12,000 lbs...

If you got the old bearings off them without much trouble, I wouldn't be very concerned at all. Put on a new set packed properly and properly torqued.

I've removed quite a few bearings that had welded themselves to the spindles and never had issues afterwards.

What Sasq said, and bearings usually do more damage to those particular parts when loose then when tight anyways.

Check for large grooves, and that the bearings sit snuggly on the spindle. Check threads and eyeball it for roundness.... throw it together and go!

Run your fingernail across it and if it catches I'd replace it. If not, just run it.
