Wheel Base after SAS

Hey every one,

Almost completed my SAS

Dana 30 High Pinion
Used brand new leaf springs on the front

1996 ford ranger reg cab

I know that my wheel base is 109"
but what i need to know is what is with the axle hanging

Also I am doing the shackle swing on the rear of the front

so if full weight is 109" then what would no weight be?

jack up the front of the truck and put it on jack stands on the frame and same in the rear and measure it

The axle is not in yet
It is on jack stands in the front
I am welding in the hanger I just wanted to know how much swing
I would have so I could weld in the hangers.

I under stand the shackle should be straight up and down with weight on it to allow for max articulation

Just was hoping some one had done this and could measure were there mounts are.

If not I will have to just tack and cut until it is right.

I would think you could get a very close approximation by measuring the length of the spring between the centerpin and the fixed leafspring hanger, then apply that distance right where the axle would otherwise be with weight on it.

Yes, I was just worried about the swing in the shackle since I made is a rear swing shackle.

I guess I am going to have to just trial and error with tack welds
