so I'm in the middle of changing my clutch, and I noticed some rub interference on the plastic line from the master to the slave.

So I found this one on Amazon. It happens to have a metal sleeve over the part that interferes with the frame.

I also found this one on amazon. This one doesn't have the metal oversleeve, and costs $25 more.

Trouble is, Amazon says the one with the metal sleeve doesn't fit the 97, and the one with no sleeve does. There's a comment on the one with the metal sleeve that someone bought it for their 2000. Anyone know why they wouldn't be interchangeable between a 97-00?

I"m mostly used to working on my firebird, where the part is compatible all engines 93-02... So I'm a little lost on the lack of compatibility.

I am no help on what fits what. But after burning out a transmission due to a line leak caused by rubbing, I add "chafing gear" to rub situations. Use your imagination A strip from a tin can cable tied to the line is all it needs. Tape the line first . Heck , if the one you have doesnt leak, start with that. :D

I had already planned to do that as an interim. great minds, whatwhat.

I'd go to rock auto and look up the part for both years. If they are different part numbers I would believe they are different for a reason. You can also check the slave cylinder part numbers, if they are the same you could/can guess that either line would fit.
