So I went over to Oreily's. They confirmed what we thought...that the alternator needed a new voltage regulator. They also recommended that i purchase an upgraded regulator that will keep up with all the truck's power demands, even at idle, without adding more drag which a bigger alternator demands.
To be sure, i am going to replace the alternator and then get the upgraded regulator.
