Ok just got my gasket kit and why do they give you two different styles, also the one piece, why is one end of the gasket shut off for the water flow?

That may be a transition year when Ford was changing things. I really don't know for sure.

I just ordered Fel-pro timing cover gaskets for my 2.9L when i opened the box there was other gaskets .
Then i looked at the lable on the box and noticed that the same kit also does the 2.8L also.
Maybe cross reference your part number ?

mine was same way those felpro kits cover several different engines.

Those both look like 4.0 lower intake manifold gaskets (one piece and two piece). Strange they gave you both.

The one piece is how Ford ships it from the factory. The two piece is the newer style as it tolerates more slop (from machining, etc) but make sure you use enough RTV on the ends to seal the oil in the lifter valley. Otherwise you will be doing it again :-)

On newer 4.0 OHV engine lower intake manifolds, the rear coolant crossover doesn't exist. That is why the rear one piece ports are covered. So don't use the sealed one piece if you have an older lower intake manifold with the rear crossover. The two piece will work either way. If newer, the solid lower intake manifold will block the open rear crossover ports in the two piece gasket (mine is like this).
