Need to fab a few more parts. and install the injectors into the 90° tube before the intake. and run a couple more aux harnesses to power the injectors.

Then it all comes apart to get welded and painted.

In no way have I given up on this. Here is some more progress. Started to get a few more things installed. Couple more pieces to install, then it can come apart and have the tubes fully welded.

Looks good! I like the blue intake. You burn't rubber yet?

I love how clean it looks, compared to some of the hackjobs you see on aftermarket turbo installs.

Yours could almost be factory! The third pic is kind of a clusterfawk, but what can ya do.

Ya it's a bit messy at the injectors. I could build a panel to cover it up. One thing that bothers me is huge space on the drivers side that is open. I guess I'll Just have to fill it with an old AC pump I have, and get the OBA working again.

You could place another turbo there. :icon_twisted:

I suggest getting the OBA to work, and then telling me exactly how you did it.

(I have been researching it and looking at your thread on BII-Ranger, but there are many other things to do first)

I won't be using the factory 4.0L one. I've got an aftermarket Sauden unit i pulled from an F150. I can oil the case with this one. Also with the saginaw pump and custom bracket it shouldn't be that hard to mount up the aftermarket AC pump.

But could those extra fuel injectors work on a carb'd blow through system?
Only problem I see is needing 2 fuel pumps... for high and low pressure.

My future street rod project will hopefully have a :secret: chevy :secret: 292 inline 6 that's turbo'd with no computer. So i was thinking some kind of mechanical FI or something like this

I don't see why not. As long as you have adjustable Hobbs switches. The switches are pressure triggered. so if the intake pressures start to see boost you can adjust them to trigger injectors.

If you were to remove the mechanical pump and go with a High flow electric unit that has an internal return valve, that should be more than what you need. You could piggy back an electric one too.


After looking at the injector layout I think I'll make a panel to cover them. Just to clean things up a bit. I'll make a heat shield for the exhaust housing too.:icon_thumby:
 
that guage pod come from Autozone? i been eyeballing them at work and can't decide if it would fit. if thats where you got it from then i'm sold. nice setup by the way. i was wondering could one mount the turbo under the truck, you know remote locate it just behind the y-pipe? and just run the tubing to the intake? i guess some custom exhaust work would still be needed and that would be some interesting tubing work to get from point a to point b...
anywho, i always enjoy your builds. i just finished putting Jeep Grand Cherokee seats in my 87 bII... nice and cushy
