What's the ticking noise ?

Hey all, good New Year to you.

I've been told that a ticking sound in engine is coming from a plastic intake manifold. Engine is the 4-cyl, 2001 vintage, oil is topped off.

The noise comes and goes as the engine vacuum changes. Any ideas ?

I remember seeing something like this somewhere before. I think we ended up finding something in the intake resonator (black plastic cube off the intake tubing) that was making the noise. I can't remember what it was or how it got there though.

Try taking your resonator off and seeing it something has gotten inside it. Just a thought.
