So that's why you haven't been around much.

The funny thing is, one of the more senior techs was kinda keeping an eye on me too. I put the roll pin in my ash tray so I wouldn't loose it and forgot about it. Put it all together, timed it, fired right up, and ran great for about 2 weeks. Then I got on her one day and it was nothing but trouble until I decided to park her.

Left her set and revisited the problem in my head from time to time until one slow day at work during the summer it hit me like a lead pipe in the face. Went and asked my new mentor (since the last place had gone out of business) if that could happen from leaving the pin out, he said "Yes" followed by a few derogatory statement about the intelligence of both me and Tom (who he knew). I went home after work, went back to the truck, pulled out the ash tray, and sure enough, there was my pin.:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

I hate it when I do that, I have a throttle cable bracket off of one of my 302's that I put up so I wouldn't lose it. Still haven't found it, had to make one. :annoyed:

Since pictures explain better than a story:

i don't want to drive all the way into the street to turn around. i'll just drive down into the yard and turn around on the grass. surely its dry enough.

next thing i knew i was using a come along to pull the ranger 50ft back up the hill cause my 4x4 couldn't get traction to haul it out.

aside from that i've done LOTS of high speed drifting on logging roads with friends.

but the worst thing i've even done in my ranger was probably when i decided to drive up into the mountains when it was pouring snow. took 2 friends with me and we were looking for a place to sled, i started rounding an icy corner at about 25mph and the rear tires broke loose and sent us spinning around the corner almost hitting a car. the truck slammed sideways into some plowed snow which was the only barrier from falling straight down.

started the truck up and kept on going, rear end was making noise for about a mile from the ice that got packed into the wheel

drifted into a speed limit sign. i steered away, but she was determined to take it out! few burnouts, and dragging it down a forest trail and scratching it to hell

i freakin love your profile pic thing man, if only it was blond and such. have you tried letting the wheel go when your pitchin it sideways to regain direction?

I'd tell you but If her husband ever found out----long story. You can get that aviator in several colors, had a red head stuck away for a long time. Found her on the FE forum.

I've seen it done in drift cars, but on the ranger i don't think it sticks enough to warrant letting go of the wheel. Just my .02

i went into a stream for pictures and drove a bit too much into it...

Probably the dumbest thing i'v done in the few months i had my ranger is me and my 2 friends went to "practice driving in the snow" and when we got to the empty lot, i let them jump in the back and did some donuts, one of my friends has a bad history of getting hurt around me but i neglected to think about that till after we had our fun.

So we'll just ignore the fact that my sister's one friend (a guy) did a very similar thing in a moving truck in my parent's front yard. Dug himself in 3 inches before I went out and drove it right on out while my dad was gathering up the tow straps.

^ This is win. If only everyone knew how to drive, America would be a better place :icon_thumby:

Well countless time they've all been airborne (My 99 in reverse), driving through standing corn, driving through culverts under 4 Lane highways, its kinda hard to tell what was actually the dumbest......

Ive never had the desire to own or build a prerunner but all my buddys tell me it would be better for me than my stock 4X4s
