What's the recommendation on cleaning and care for black plastic exterior parts?

i do detailing and stuff for a living at a huge carwash, and when i detail vehicles i use this stuff we have called lemon vinyl dressing on all plastic trim and sometimes mudflaps and mirrors and such,i think the stuff is industrial though so you probably wont find it at a store we get most out stuff from ecolab.

That's interesting. I'm wondering if that's lemon oil. Any interesting ingredient listings on the bottle? They usually don't have that since those are often considered "trade secrets."

i use mothers back to black. and it works very well

im not sure we use like 3 different types of universal spray bottles and there just labeled but thats it, the product comes out of another container, i would have to go look at the label on the container to see if it even says, works great though...sometimes we use tireshine we have detailer tireshine im not even sure what the name is of it is but its blue and very thin its about as thick as window cleaner, and it smells like expensive cologne lol, it works really great also...il have to find out wtf its called, i know we have black magic tires shine we use on cars that are just getting an express detail, but ill have to see what that other stuff is.

I'm back to vouch for Mothers Back To Black. I finally got around to trying it and it works great. Time will tell how long it will last before I have to reapply it, but so far it's doing good. I even washed the truck and didn't have to put it on again afterward. There aren't too many products worthy of my stamp of approval, but this is a good one.

ty for the report back, I'll give it a try too:icon_cheers:

How often would you expect to have to reapply it? I was thinking it would last for months but I guess weeks is more reasonable to expect based on these comments.

I had a couple of questions about Back To Black...
Is that a clear wipe-on like Armor All?
Does it have the same Armor All issue where your plastic ends up looking worse if not reapplied than if you never used it at all?
My Armor All experiences in the past were basically short term happiness with long term woes...
