What's the issue

hi guys I have a 98 ranger 3.0 automatic, I'm having vss issues. I checked my fuses this morning and the #27 fuse(15a) was blown, I replaced the fuse with a new one drove it and the speedo worked and trans shifted fine for about a mile or two then started jumping around again, when I got back home I checked the #27 fuse again and it was blown. The #27 fuse is the- electric shift, backup lamps, daytime running lamps(drl) and transmission control switch. I feel like that has something to do with my vss problem can anyone help me? Thanks

Btw I replaced the vss in the rear already and cleaned the connector plug underneath the driver side but did not use the dielectric
Grease will the grease make a difference with the connection if the connections bad?

If you are blowing the fuse you have a short somewhere. Look carefully at the wires that are anything to do with that fuse, you might find one that has rubbed the insulation through or is trapped somewhere. The windstar of around that vintage has a switch on the master cylinder that sometimes goes to ground and takes out the fuse that the speedo etc. is on, if your truck has a similar switch you might want to try disconnecting it to see what happens. I don't have the diagrams for these vehicles so I'm taking a guess.
